A shadow box card is one of my favorite types of card to make!!! It is so easy yet the result can be very impressive. You can decorate it as much or as little as you like. I like my cards to be fully decorated in a dimensional way. So, this kind of card is really perfect for me!This shadow box card is for a friend of mine! It's gonna be her birthday card and I hope she'll like it! Here I used plain kraft card stock to build a collapsible shadow box; then, decorated it with patterned paper from Prima, the Engraver collection.
Flower fairies characters are one of my obsessions! I simply love the cute fairies and beautiful flower images. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp this 'Rose Fairy'. I colored her with copic markers, added diamond stickles to make it glittery; then, I fussy cut the image and glued it to the side of the frame.
I used paper flowers to embellish the box. I glimmer misted the flowers to get richer colors. If you want to do this...Be generous with the glimmer mist!!! Make sure you coat every petal!!! The flowers will be soaking wet but you can quickly dry them with a heat tool. They look much prettier than they were and the best part is they are all shimmery!!! I really love how they came out!
If you look through the frame...I created the background with some stencils and distress ink. I got fun and beautiful stencils from my friend, Sa Crafters. I used the rose, beehive pattern and brick stencils here. I also sprayed tons of clear glimmer mist on the stenciled images so everything just looks so shimmery...LOL!!!
For the back, instead of leaving it untouched, I covered it up with paper from the same collection (Prima's Engraver). I then created a pocket and a tag so I won't have to write on the card!
I punched the top border of the pocket with Martha Stewart butterfly edge punch, created stenciled texture with a reverse brick mask and gesso. I simply decorated this side with stamped images that I colored and fussy cut out.
The tag is made out of plain white card stock. I cut out a rectangle, and punched both top corners and bottom edge with doily punches. I sprayed different colors of Tattered Angels glimmer mist on the surface; let it sit for just a few seconds; then, wiped off the excess with paper towel. This way...the colors are more subtle; you get a cloudy look instead of splotchy colors. (In case you're wondering, the colors of glimmer mist I used are Meadow Green, Purple Pansy and Tarnished Silver.) I did this to both sides of the tag.
I again used stencils and distress ink (Dusty Concord and Peeled Paint) to add details to the front side of my tag. I stamped "Once Upon a Spring Time" (Graphic 45 cling rubber stamp) over the stenciled image. Then, I punched a hole and tied white seam binding into a bow to finish it off.
I really love how this shadow box card turned out! Let me know what you think. If you want to see it in motion...Click Here to go to my video.

"Graphic 45 Design Team 2013 Audition"
Hi Graphic 45 and everyone! This is the first time I try out for an audition! Just like we all know, Graphic 45 papers are so awesome and I'm real excited and nervous! I know there are so many wonderful crafters out there but I guess it never hurts to try! ^O^ In this blog post, I'm going to share with you some projects I have created.1. "French Country" Waterfall Mini Album (Flip Book)
I love to make interactive cards and a waterfall card is one of my favorite one to make. But it's even better in a bigger version! I created this album from scratch and decorated it with gorgeous French Country collection! I really love the deep, rich colors and designs of this collection!
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* 2."Blue Birds of Happiness" Handmade Easel Drawer Box Card
I love to make things from scratch especially boxes! I made this easel drawer box card with card stock and sweet patterned paper from Secret Garden collection! All the designs are stunning but for this project, I focused on lavender and blue colors! I fussy cut out the flower vine and the little birdies; added glossy accents and lots of diamond stickles on them! I also made some dimensional flowers using flower die cuts from the collection.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* 3. "Le Romantique" Altered Vanity Mirror
I altered a plastic vanity mirror into this beautiful vintage shabby chic display using Graphic 45 "Le Romantique" and "A Ladies' Diary" collections. A Ladies's Diary paper is for the backgrounds. All the fussy cut images are from Le Romantique collection! I added a lot textures and layers on this project.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* 4. "Bird of Beauty" Hand-Stitched Book
I am in love with this little book of mine. It was the second handbound book I've made. When I saw the beautiful images of Asian ladies from Bird Song collection, they instantly reminded me of my grandma and I felt I wanted to do something with it! I fussy cut images out and created different scenes for each page. I bound each single sheet with coptic stitches.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* 5. "A Ladies Diary" Handmade Little Notebook
Another handmade book I made using A Ladies' Diary collection! I had so much fun creating this little notebook! I played around with fussy cut images, punches, stamps, ink, crackle paint, etc. LOVE the femininity of this collection!
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* 6. "Christmas Emporium" Explosion Box
I made this explosion box for a friend using beautiful Christmas Emporium paper collection. Love the traditional Christmas colors; and vintage images are just perfect! I created a holiday scene with 3D Christmas tree inside!
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* 7. "Home Is Where the Love Is" Handmade House and Mini Album This was the first time I made a house box from scratch. I also made a matching mini album using Generations collection from Simple Stories. I like the homey, country cottage look of this project.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* And now I am going to share some cards and tags that I've made! They're probably one of my favorite things to create because I love to mail them out to my friends.
